Endodontic failure remains a significant challenge in clinical practice, often resulting from a complex interplay of anatomical, procedural, and material-related factors.

This workshop provides an in-depth exploration of the most common causes behind the failure of root canal treatments (RCTs), with a particular focus on effective and safe retreatment strategies.

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the biological and mechanical reasons for endodontic failure through a structured classification system of failed RCT cases. Using this classification, the workshop will guide attendees through a decision-making protocol tailored to each failure scenario, helping clinicians refine their diagnosis and retreatment plans.

A central focus of the session will be on contemporary techniques and technologies for the removal of old obturation materials—such as gutta-percha, pastes, and sealers—while preserving the structural integrity of the root canal system.

Emphasis will be placed on maintaining as much dentinal structure as possible, ensuring long-term tooth viability and reducing the risk of complications like canal transportation or perforation.

Multiple real-world clinical cases will be presented to illustrate practical applications of these protocols. Attendees will leave with a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for approaching retreatment cases, coupled with hands-on insights to safely and predictably execute obturation removal procedures.

This workshop is designed for general dentists and endodontic practitioners aiming to improve their skills in retreatment scenarios and enhance treatment outcomes for endodontically compromised teeth.

Radicular separation of endodontic instruments is the worst nightmare facing every dentist in the modern dentistry.

Instrument separation inside the canal worsens the root canal procedures and make cleaning and shaping the canal more difficult.

Hindering the procedures will affect the outcome and the prognosis of the case.

Separation mode is a complicated phenomenon affected by many factors which I will clarify in my lecture and how to prevent that.

Managing a separated instrument will range from orthograde to surgical option.

Orthograde conservative conventional options including removal or bypassing the fragment will be the specific part of our lecture and more focusing on removal.

A decision should be taken either to bypass or to retrieve according to many affecting factors which I will clarify.

The main goal is not only removing the separated fragment but also the tooth integrity should be maintained.

I will clarify when, why and how to retrieve a broken file fragment through dfferent protocols and trials.

I will clarify all the available treatment options that clinician can perform in broken file cases.

Clinicians should be familiar with all treatment options in facing broken file cases even before referral if needed.

In today’s dental landscape, general practitioners face a barrage of information about new treatments and materials—often filtered through the lens of marketing or social media trends. Misinformation is a real risk, especially regarding products promoted by those driven more by financial incentives or online popularity than patient health.

Bioceramic materials, widely advertised as revolutionary for root canal procedures, are a prime example.

This lecture is designed for practicing dentists who want practical, trustworthy insights into the use of bioceramics for root canal retreatment. We’ll separate solid clinical evidence from speculation—addressing what bioceramic sealers and putties actually offer in daily practice, from their reputed biocompatibility to their handling and performance in complex cases.

You’ll hear a realistic appraisal of when these materials make a “real world” difference, and when more traditional methods might still be preferable.

You’ll also gain hands-on experience in techniques that matter for your patients:

  • Repairing perforations with bioceramic putties

  • Simplifying canal obturation using bioceramic sealers

  • Avoiding common pitfalls during retreatment procedures

We’ll focus on the biological foundation of endodontics—prioritizing healing and long-term tooth preservation over “perfect” x-rays or unproven trends. This evidence-based session will empower you to make treatment choices that truly benefit your patients and practice.

Join us for an interactive, myth-busting course, and walk away equipped to use (or question) the newest materials with clinical confidence.

Modern endodontics is increasingly oriented towards a balance between respect for the original root canal anatomy and the preservation of the healthy dentin structure and perfect cleansing, disinfection and three-dimensional filling of root canals. This is achieved
through the implementation of innovative designs and alloys, a reduction in instrument tapers, and a rationalization of instrumentation sequences and times. New virtual design technologies play an important role in achieving these goals and allow endodontic instruments to be virtually designed and optimized before their production. The aim of the course is to illustrate a new perspective on modern endodontics and present innovations in instrumentation with B4-U system, disinfection and filling. Operational sequences and clinical cases will be illustrated to concretely represent the
characteristics of the instruments and better develop the operator's confidence.
